Woo!I just had a phonecall. I got the job.
It seems while one of the references I was given by a previous employer was excellent (and I know exactly who that was), the other was not so good. Nasty, devious, backstabbing assholes. Should I ever need references again, I won't be putting their name down.
Needless to say, I was given the benefit of the doubt on the strength of my good reference and positive attitude in the interview, and have been given a 3 month probationary contract, which is pretty much standard these days.
Am I thrilled? No, not really. The wages aren't great, and there are aspects of the job that I'm not keen on, but the hours are very flexible and it opens up a number of doors for me, so it's certainly not a bad thing.
Now I need to go buy some new clothes, as what I usually wear is wholely unsuitable, and then I start on monday morning. Should be interesting.
