There are a few new photos on my Flickr Page
Here's just one of them.

Blackpool Evening By The Sea

I'm using flickr just to preview new pics... not posting all of the best ones. Everything will be going into the photo gallery on my new site, when I get the time to finish it.
That's proving quite hard though, coz I'm taking more photos than I can keep up with... going away for a week in Wales soon, and that should be a real photofest.

We're in sunny Blackpool for a long weekend.
Things didn't go entirely smoothly, coz when we got to our hotel, The Savoy (Believe it or not), they'd screwed up, and even after they'd phoned us just 2 days ago to confirm the booking, our room was unfortunately not available.
So, they "upgraded" us to a different hotel just up the road. Upgrade is a interesting word. We're at the Norbrech Castle Hotel, which if you ignore the style and quality of the building, and concentrate on size and facilities, is an upgrade.
This place looks for all the world like a converted hospital with added crenelations to make it look like a castle. We went for a nose around last night and found not only does it have its own indoor swimming, stage, 2 resteraunts, gymn and beauty salon, it also has its own cinema. Big place? Ho ho. I should say so.
Blackpool itself is odd.
Imagine a 1920s northern english working town where the inhabitants travelled to 2006 Las Vegas.... then went home, built the closest they could to a replica with 1920s technology, and then left it to rot. What you see today is what's left.
Very very odd.

This will rather speak for itself, if it's turned on at my end.

Testing 'Pocket Blogger' on my MDA Pro.
The trial version of Opera I used to blog on this thing expired, and I figured rather than go right ahead and pay for the full commercial version, I'd give this free blogging program a try... especially since The built in version of IE works fine for most other sites I may want to use while on holiday.
So here goes....
Testing, testing....

I seem to be developing some extremely nerdish tendencies. I mean... I was always a geek, but fell short of nerd.
Why do I say this?
Ummm... I appear to have become hooked on The Elder Scrolls.
You can't get much more nerdy than swords and sorcery, but this game is so compelling, the world so huge, and the graphics so pretty.
In case you wondered, those screenshots are from the Xbox 360, and yes, the gfx on my PC *are* that good.
The only question now is, will I go all the way and start playing World Of Warcraft?
Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.

Y'know, it's absolutely shocking how little you can do when your abdominal muscles are being held together by what's basically a glorified elastoplast.
Can't walk more than 30 yards. Can't lift even so much as a cat. Can't sweep the kitchen floor without collapsing in exhaustion, never mind even thinking about hoovering.
Wanna know the worst thing though? Have it done yourself and then try taking a dump!
Yeash!

A special mention for Andrea is required at this point.
Not only has she had to put up with me stressing for weeks before my op, then sat around all day at the surgical clinic while I was being operated on and in recovery... and then been there for me as I whine and wince like a wuss through my recovery... all of which must be extremely annoying things to put up with... she's done it with such good grace, and more than this, she's done much of it while injured herself. Somehow she managed to do something nasty to her knee/leg while sitting in the hospital waiting room, and is now largely incapacitated herself.
What a wonderful woman. I could almost believe she injured herself so I wouldnt feel like the only cripple in the house, but... she's not stupid like me, and deserves much sympathy.

In other, non-medical related news, I got myself a new graphics card recently, coz my old one was getting a bit creaky. The new one's pretty much as powerful a card as it's possible to get on an agp based motherboard. It's a Gainward 7800GS+ 512Meg, which surprisingly doesn't use the nVidia 7800 chip at all, but the 7900 one.
This little monster of a card was purchased solely to play one game... Battlefield 2.
Hooked? You bet!
The funny thing is, the way I came to get into the game in the first place. It was THIS spoof video.
I saw it, recognised similar behaviour from playing SOCOM, laughed my head off all night (no doubt annoying Andrea), and promptly went out to buy it at the soonest oportunity.
Anyways... it's very very addictive.
