I began this collection around 10 years ago, with the intention of collecting every home computer I could remember from my childhood, and anything
noteworthy from later years.
This soon crossed over to games consoles and handhelds too, though I'm less concerned about the vintage of these,
as consoles are generally considered retro as soon as they're no longer current generation.
I picked these machines up from a variety of places, including car boot sales, Game Station shops, ebay (obviously), and a few were donated by my girlfriend.
Clearly, this collection is a work in progress, as there are some very obvious omissions, including assorted Sinclairs, Amstrads, and Ataris, etc... not to mention many of the much rarer machines such as the Color Genie, Acorn Atom and Bandai Pippin etc.
The intention of these pages is to provide useful information to collectors... the kind of thing I myself would have found useful when looking at retro computers and consoles while browsing ebay. Obviously, I can't compete with the likes of Wikipedia for weight of detailed information, but for concise details that will be useful to console and computer collectors, I hope this site will prove less heavy going.
Please note: None of these machines are for sale, so please don't email me asking if I will sell one to you.
Also, I get a lot of emails from people asking me if I'd like to buy their *insert console model here*, and while I'm very grateful for their interest, I really must decline all such offers.
Without the safeguards put in place by ebay, and its feedback system, I really don't consider it safe to be buying from complete strangers online.
Also note: due to the increasing number of emails I get on a daily basis, asking me where to sell assorted games systems and computers, I am no longer replying to such emails. However, I will answer that question here, as the answer is the same in every case - ebay. It might also be worth contacting Retro Scene, retrogames.co.uk, or Console Passion , to see if they may be interested.
