Rocks on the beach on Scarborough's south bay, not far from the Spa Complex.
Apparently, winter storms whip up the sea each year, washing away the sand and exposing these rocks. Then calmer summer waves wash sand back over them.
This photo having been taken in summer, I guess the process isn't as complete as was suggested. I have however seen old photos of this part of the beach, completely covered with sand.
