This is a short video clip of me playing Munchkin aka K.C. Munckin! on the Philips Videopac G7000 / Magnavox Odyssey 2 retro video games console.
Released in 1981, a year before Atari's Pac-Man for the 2600.
Though technically superior to Pac-Man, in 1982, Philips / Magnavox were forced by the courts to withdraw their game, as it was deemed a copy of Pac-Man, the rights of which had been licensed by Atari.
Ironically, Munchkin was very well recieved, for as long as it was available, while Pac-Man was so dire, the losses incurred by Atari due to that game were catastrophic. Along with ET, Atari's Pac-Man has been blamed for triggering the '80s videogames crash.
This and the other retro gaming clips on this site aren't intended as full game reviews, but are simply to give viewers who weren't around when these games were popular, an idea of what video games used to be like.
